Writing came later in life for Barrie.
Barrie started her professional career in sales, ultimately moving to sales management and sales operations. She then invented and patented a product called Kover-Ups.

Barrie's mother, who is an avid reader, inspired her to write Plain Jane after sharing a dream she had about the book's “secret.”
"Like Jane, I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, lived in NYC, worked for an Internet start-up and have twins."
Barrie Levitt Knee is married with twin daughters and lives in both New Jersey and Florida. Her interests include reading, writing, travel, and long walks with her dogs. But what she enjoys the most is spending time with her family and friends.
